Tongue and cheek titles aside this is perhaps one of the coolest aspects of the first generation Pokemon games that goes completely unknown. The idea behind the glitch involves using a bug that allows you to get a glitch item which the game titles (seemingly arbitrarily) 8F. The abuse of this item in conjunction with other factors including the x and y coordinates of the player character when using 8F will allow for one to write new information to the games memory. As you will see in the amazing video by YouTube user TheZZAZZGlitch included below the extent of this exploit is hard to overstate.
