Club Nintendo Nears Extinction

I've been a member of the soon to be defunct Club Nintendo for quite a while now and with this news of Nintendo replacing the loyalty service all I can say is: "Seems about right". When I was first a member Club Nintendo offered some pretty awesome exclusives: Doc Louis' Punch-Out, Game & Watch Collections 1 and 2, and even an amazing reproduction of their first Game & Watch handheld Ball. About a year ago though things started to take a pretty dramatic turn. No longer were the DS games available and much of the options were replaced with downloadable titles available to everyone else. One could argue the merit of Nintendo of America's Club Nintendo vs. Japan's before, but now the question was if it had any merit at all? Still a few cool things did roll out such as a Majora's Mask soundtrack and the impending Smash Bros. soundtracks but it's clear that Club Nintendo has breathed it's last breath. With that being said I'm very optimistic about what Nintendo’s next move will be and am eagerly awaiting more details hopefully come February.
